Ray J has issued one of the most alarming health updates of his career, telling fans he believes he may have only months left to live following a recent hospitalization that exposed the severity of his heart condition.
The 45-year-old singer and entrepreneur, best known for the hit “Sexy Can I,” made the remarks during a Jan. 27 Instagram livestream, weeks after being treated for pneumonia. Speaking candidly and without restraint, Ray J suggested his condition has progressed so far that he does not expect to survive into 2027.
“2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” Ray J said before gesturing to his chest. “This is black. This is, like, done.”
The livestream marked a stark escalation from earlier updates, where Ray J acknowledged serious health concerns but maintained hope for recovery. This time, he reflected openly on what he described as years of excess that pushed his body beyond its limits.
“I f–ked up,” he said. “I think I thought I had more weight. I thought I was big so I could handle all the alcohol, I could handle all the Adderall, I ccould handle all the drugs—but I couldn’t. It curved my time here.”
According to Ray J, his lifestyle prior to the hospitalization involved extreme daily intake.
He said he was drinking “like four or five bottles a day” and taking “10 Addys.”
At the time, he believed his body was immune to the consequences.
“I’m like, ‘Ain’t nothing happening to me,'” he continued. “I’m undestructible.”
Earlier in the week, Ray J disclosed in a separate Jan. 25 Instagram video that his heart is “only beating 25 percent,” a statement that intensified concern among fans and fueled widespread discussion about celebrity health and substance abuse.
Despite the grim outlook, he also expressed cautious optimism in that earlier video.
“As long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said. “My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I’ve been in the hospital.”
Family support has become central to his recovery efforts. Ray J, who shares daughter Melody, 7, and son Epik, 5, with ex-wife Princess Love, credited his parents and sister for stepping in during his medical crisis.
“My momma and my daddy coming to pick me up tomorrow and they’re gonna take me to the checkup,” he said during the livestream. “Shoutout to my momma and daddy, and shoutout to Brandy for looking out for me.”
He added another revelation that underscored how serious the situation has become.
“My sister paid my bills for me for the rest of the year. That’s crazy.”
Ray J’s disclosures have sparked renewed attention around long-term health risks tied to substance use, particularly among high-profile entertainers navigating fame, pressure, and physical burnout.
